Priority Plussm
So many things to do. Where do you start?
Many people think that, because all the projects must get done, we should get started on them all right now. Don't. Remember, what counts is not what gets started, but what gets finished!
If you start many tasks at once, you will make a little progress on each, but few will get finished quickly. Better to choose the most important projects, work only on them, and get them done. Then move on to the next most important tasks. If you do this, you actually will get more accomplished in the same elapsed time.

Do what this company did. Faced with 21 individual, time- consuming projects, they used the Priority Plussm methodology to prioritize their work. The methodology consists of a meeting with the company leaders, facilitated by John Prentice. Using his expertise from years of experience, he guided the management team to prioritize the tasks based on 1) each project's contribution to the company's overall strategy and 2) the degree of difficulty |
to complete the project. The company then assigned its resources to the highest priority project first.
Not only did the most important things get done earlier, the company enjoyed those benefits while they attacked the next projects. They even agreed there were some tasks that, in light of their priority, could be postponed or even deleted.
